About Me

Hi, friend! I'm so happy you're here. My name is Bekah and I'm the photographer here at Cross Timbers. I'm a mom to two sweet kiddos, Phoebe and Ezra. My husband, Shane, and I work in college ministry at the University of Oklahoma. We've been doing ministry work for the past 5 years and have loved seeing what God is up to in the Kingdom and partnering with Him in that work.

I started pursuing photography more seriously throughout my time in college when I was working on my bachelor's degree in online journalism. I mentored under Courtney DeSpain (with Courtney DeSpain Photography) throughout college and learned so much working with her! Once I graduated I decided to take the leap and start up my own photography business. I recently rebranded my business from Bekah Standerfer Photography to Cross Timbers Photography.

I have a passion for storytelling, and I've always loved documenting real people in everyday moments. Authenticity and honesty is behind every photo. You won't find heavy editing or photo altering here, and my sessions are always very laid back and relaxed. I want you to feel like yourself in your photos, and I want to do whatever I can to make you feel like your photos capture who you truly are. I would love to meet you!

Where did you get the name Cross Timbers Photography?

We moved onto 10 acres of land in July of 2022 with the dream of homesteading and pursuing slow, simple living with our best friends. We are specifically located within the Cross Timbers ecological region, which is why we chose to name our homestead "Cross Timbers Homestead." I decided to rebrand my photography alongside our homestead with the hope of offering a future outdoor location that photographers can come and use for their own sessions, as well as a home base for my personal photography sessions. Unfortunately, a tornado destroyed our property in April of 2023 and we ended up having to put this dream on the back burner for the time being. Our lives were forever changed in the Cross Timbers of Oklahoma, and even though we are now located in Tulsa it holds such a special place in my heart!
